As far as shopping malls go, this one is beautiful. Set right on the River Walk and attached to the Marriott River Center hotel, this mall is a dining, shopping and entertainment mecca. Although anchored by Foley's, Dillard's and an AMC movie theater, the mall offers scores of specialty shops and gift stores, as well as one of the largest parking garages downtown. Musical groups and dance troupes perform nightly during the summer months at the lagoon in the middle of the mall. Visitors can also board barges for tours of the River Walk from the lower level.

San Antonio's newest shopping hot spot is a former cement plant, now renovated into a ready mix of shopping, dining and entertainment. Anchor stores include Old Navy, Bed Bath & Beyond and Whole Earth Provisions. The centerpiece is the enormous Quarry Market Movie Theater, which features more than eight screens with first-run selections. The city's premiere mall, North Star draws shoppers from all over the state and from as far away as Mexico. Anchored by Macy's, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Dillard's, the mall is also home to smaller stores such as Talbots and the Disney Store. The mall bustles with activity year round and even offers valet parking during the holiday season.

The Alley on Bitters has housed San Antonio's most unique collection of locally-owned and operated specialty stores for more than 35 years. What began as a place for artists to showcase and sell their work has turned into a popular contemporary retail center. The center has several shops, restaurants, salons, and a yoga studio.

La Cantera is located amidst lush greenery and tranquility. The open-air location of La Cantera, while providing the same variety, has a feel different from that of a mall. Find departmental stores, women's and men's apparel and accessories, and restaurants in this shopping paradise. Victoria's Secret, Macy's, and Dillard's are few of the stores here. Dining options include Grimaldi's Pizzeria, Yard House, and The Cheesecake Factory.
