This offshoot, of Boulder's popular Mountain Sun Pub & Brewery, was established in 2013. Located right below the Southern Sun Pub & Brewery, an older outlet by Mountain Sun, Under the Sun Eatery & Taphouse is a great place to devour the beers brewed at Southern Sun. Along with beers, wines on tap are also offered. In winters, huddle close to the fireplace with a strong drink and some delectable food. Under the Sun Eatery & Taphouse opens its doors from 5p on weekdays and 4p on weekends. Check the website or call ahead for further information.
Southern Sun Pub & Brewery is run by the same guys who own the Mountain Sun pub on Pearl Street where they brew the eponymous and delicious beers. There are two other pubs in addition to this one and the original; each one offers their signature eight beers on tap, the Blackberry Wheat, Old School Irish Stout, Colorado Kind Ale, XXX Pale Ale, Isadore Java Porter, Annapurna Amber, Quinn's Golden Ale, Illusion Dweller IPA and the FYIPA, respectively. They also have seasonal, wheat and some Belgian inspired beers that will knock your socks off with their high ABV content. Inside the pub, the atmosphere is very scholarly, there are no TVs and books line the shelves. All this makes for great conversation, and if you want some sun (winter excluded), the patio is a perfect place to take your pint.

The Dark Horse has been a local favorite since 1975, where the landmark watering hole features an anachronistic melange of over 1000 pieces of movie memorabilia and antique furnishings. Despite the old-timer feel, there are still big screen TVs, pool tables and video games. The crowd is a mix of college students and locals, and it is pretty much known around here the Horse serves some of the best burgers in town. The menu features these alongside sandwiches, salads and a kid's menu. If you are more adventurous, the kitchen can serve up a plate of Rocky Mountain Oysters, which are delicious. Other items include specialties like the Burrito Grande and Fish and Chips. Live music rocks the bar on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
