The DuPont Mansion is located in Old Louisville, just minutes from Churchill Downs and across the street from Central Park (initially known as Dupont Square). The family name is the same of those famous chemical magnates in Delaware and in fact it was two brothers from this clan who constructed this beautiful Italianate Renaissance building in 1879. However, the family only stayed here more or less for 25 years when the property changed hands. It remained as a private estate until the end of the 20th-Century, when the mansion was completely refurbished into a B&B. Today it has modern essentials such as climate-control temperature and Internet access, yet it stays true to its Victorian roots with touches like chandeliers and authentic furnishings from the late 19th century.
Find tranquility just five minutes from Louisville's airport and downtown. The Inn at the Park overlooks Frederick Law Olmsted's Central Park (his other Central Park), and has come to be known as "The Queen of Old Louisville" for its breathtaking 1884 Richardian Romanesque architecture. Guests will find congenial hospitality and personal service, along with beautifully decorated rooms and a full gourmet breakfast.
This B&B bills itself as "A Statement in Casual Elegance" and, having been built in 1884, it is a great example of Victorian architecture with its period furnishings and hand craftsmanship. All the rooms here have a work desk, wireless internet access, cable TV and the romance of a fireplace. And with Central Park just across the street, guests can enjoy a game of tennis or just people watch. Some of the guest rooms have a Jacuzzi and the carriage house has a kitchen. Another nice touch is the B&B's social hour, it's held in the parlor every evening.
This gorgeous 1896 "mahogany king" was restored in 1994 to include central heat and air for guests' comfort. Despite these changes, the home preserves all of its Victorian charm. Six different rooms are fully furnished to welcome guests with old-fashioned comfort, and a large screened porch provides a relaxing environment for pleasant Kentucky days and nights. In addition to the exquisite accommodations, a family warmth and genuine hospitality keeps guests coming back to The Columbine.
