One of the oldest plantation houses in Goodlettsville, the Bowen-Campbell House was built in 1788 by Captain William Bowen, a decorated war veteran who served the nation during the American Revolutionary War of 1775. The house was later occupied by Brigadier General William Bowen Campbell, his grandson, giving the house its present name. The house was donated to the Tennessee Historical Commission which converted it into a house museum in 1996.
