Fort Vancouver National Historic Site is a unit of the National Park Service located in Vancouver, Washington. The site preserves the history and legacy of Fort Vancouver, which was a fur trading post and military fort established by the Hudson's Bay Company in the early 19th century. Today, visitors to the site can explore the reconstructed fort and its buildings, which include the Chief Factor's House and the Kitchen. There is also a museum on site that houses exhibits about the fort's history, as well as the history of the Pacific Northwest region. The Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge encompasses an area of 1,856 acres (751 hectares) in the northwestern part of Oregon. With its spacious play area for kids, a picnic area for families and world-class sports facilities, Lents Park situated in the heart of Portland is more than just a park for the locals. After the initial acquirement of the park in 1914 by the local civic body, more and more land was gradually added over the years to create the spacious multipurpose park that it is now. Situated inside this iconic park is the popular Charles B. Walker baseball stadium that is home to the Portland Pickles. Apart from this baseball stadium, this park also features a soccer field, basketball court and a tennis court amongst many other sports facilities. Dotted with different type of beautiful trees, lush grass and equipped with paved and unpaved walkways, Lents Park is the perfect place to take a stroll and breathe in some fresh air.
When you first paddle to the shores of Reed Island State Park, you will be greeted by the sight of tall deciduous and evergreen trees. Once docked in, set up camp and take in the breathtaking views of the basalt cliffs that stand guard in an imposing manner. Walk along the sun-dappled beach as you bask in the panorama and explore the rest of the island on foot, where a myriad of meadows beckon to be admired. Camping here is very primitive with no facilities, which when combined with its remote location, truly makes it an authentic and rustic wilderness experience.
