Das wohl nach dem erfolgreichsten Jahr in der russischen Geschichte benannte Restaurant in der Nähe der Isaak-Kathedrale und dem Astoria Hotel ist ein perfekter Ort, an dem man bei einem guten Essen, einem entspannten Geschäftsessen oder einem romantischen Dinner in angenehmer Atmosphäre plaudern kann. Im Normalfall ist das Restaurant nicht überfüllt, jedoch empfiehlt es sich doch manchmal, vorzubestellen. Die Speisen werden wie von Zauberhand aufgetischt, denn die Bedienung ist praktisch so schnell, dass sie unsichtbar zu sein scheint; zudem wird Englisch gesprochen. Die Musik, die hier gespielt wird – meist russische Folklore oder Pop - ist erfreulicherweise so leise, dass sie eine gepflegte Unterhaltung nicht stört. Es gibt drei Musiker: einen Sänger, einen Geigenspieler und einen Gitarristen. Natürlich wird auch Musik auf Wunsch des Gastes gespielt.

James Cook Pub and Cafe

Die Malaia Koniushennia Ulitsa wurde im Rahmen eines Programms zur Verschönerung des Stadtzentrums umdesignt, renoviert und umgebaut. Die Straße sieht zwar jetzt sehr schön aus, aber sobald man sich mehr als 30m vom Newskij entfernt, wird es sehr ruhig. Hier befindet sich der James Cook Pub und Café, ein neues, preiswertes Lokal der Mittelklasse. Am Fuße der Eingangstreppe kann man sich entweder für das Café auf der linken oder die Kneipe auf der rechten Seite entscheiden, die sich sowohl beim Menü als auch im Ambiente unterscheiden. Im Café werden Kaffees aus aller Welt angeboten, z.B. Äthiopien, Guatemala, Sumatra und Kenia, während im Pub eine große Auswahl an Getränken und ein herzhaftes, recht teures Menü serviert wird. Die Preise sind in Dollar, d.h. sie können etwas von den unten angegeben abweichen. Es ist unklar, was die Kneipe mit James Cook verbindet, außer einiger Gerichtenamen und dem Menü auf der typischen Papierrolle. Der Pub bezeichnet sich selbst als traditionell englisch, ist dafür aber etwas zu modern. Das Café ist sehr gemütlich, mit niedrigen Tischen und Korbstühlen, und erinnert ein wenig an die Cafés in exklusiven europäischen Kaufhäusern. An den Wänden hängen diverse Setzkästen. Die Kundschaft besteht aus gut gekleideten, modernen Russen.

Money Honey

The calm before the band gets going, is unsettling here. The student crowd sits around chatting in reflective mood, while the first group runs through its last soundtrack. Then they start playing their rockabilly classics for real and then couples get up and start jiving. The polite hum of the bar is about to become the swinging limbs of a rock & roll club. And as the night progresses, the grooving music and the energetic vibe set the ball rolling for an ultimate party.

Kosmonavt is a club with a capacity of 1700 that organizes shows by seminal rock and pop musicians.

Efir Club

A relatively new comer on the local party scene, Efir is a cozy, well decorated and fun place to be at for a night of partying. With its excellent acoustic setting, this place has some of the most talented local acts performing here. Besides this the club also has a cinema hall and an exhibition room which has played host to numerous exhibits, movies and art shows.
