Lido di Venezia

The Lido di Venezia is a pristine sandbar that has become a thriving tourist destination, thanks to its accessibility from mainland Venice. One of the most photographed and talked about places in Venice, this island is not only famous for its panoramic views and beautiful summer beaches but also home to Venice Film Festival. Most of these beaches are private and often visited by international celebrities from diverse fields. The gorgeous sandbar, stretching luxuriously to almost 11 kilometers (6.83 miles), has featured exclusively as the location in Thomas Mann's Death in Venice.

Canal Grande

Orto Botanico

Has been declared an UNESCO site.

Ponte dell'Accademia

Venice has only four bridges that traverse the famous Grand Canal. Ponte dell'Accademia is one of them connecting the neighborhoods of San Marco and Dorsoduro. It was originally built in 1854 and reconstructed twice to form the present structure. Though the bridge itself is not too great to look at, it affords magnificent views of gondolas and water taxis sailing through the Grand Canal and the play of sunlight creating myriad shadows on the surrounding red Venetian buildings. It is also a romantic spot and a popular destination with couples who wait to watch the awe-inspiring sunsets. Despite it being illegal, many couples attach talismans and love locks to the metallic rails of Ponte dell'Accademia as a symbol of eternal love.

Stadio Pierluigi Penzo

Inaugurated in 1913, Stadio Pierluigi Penzo is located on Fondamente Sant’Elena. This stadium is home to F.B.C. Unione Venezia and one of the most popular and oldest stadiums in Venice. It holds up to 7,426 spectators and is accessible only via a boat ride (like most places in this wonderful city). In 1939, after Venezia earned a promotion to Series A, the stadium was renovated with advanced technological augments. The record attendance at this stadium stands at 26,000 which was when hordes of residents and visitors swarmed here for a Venice v/s Milan match.

Giardini Papadopoli

When you enter Venice through the Piazzale Roma, look to your left and you will see the expansive greens of the Giardini Papadopoli. Spread across 0.87 hectares (2.17 acres), this garden was established in 1834. Decked with flowering plants and fruit trees, Giardini Papadopoli was beautifully designed by Francesco Bagnara, who was a professor at l'Académie des Beaux-Arts de Venise and who also designed the Fenice theater. The garden is adorned with sculptures, ornate benches and magnificent fountain. It is also home to a separate playground for children.
