Little known to many visitors to the New Haven and Yale area, this museum is a wonderful treasure with displays of nearly 1000 musical instruments and other artifacts. The museum is one of the largest and most important repositories of musical instruments in the world, and is especially known for its collection of clavichords, harpsichords and pianos. Located on historic Hillhouse Avenue (described by Mark Twain as "the most beautiful street in America"), this quiet museum is not to be missed.
The Mertens Theater is a lively venue located in the Arnold Bernhard Arts & Humanities Center on the campus of the University of Bridgeport. Besides being the venue for student drama productions, this theater also hosts concerts, plays and musicals from theater groups and organizations from outside. Most kids love a hands-on approach to education and at the Long Island Explorium in Port Jefferson, they have the perfect opportunity to do just that, whilst also learning about Long Island's rich maritime history. Located in the heart of the town, by the gentle murmur of the Indian River, the William Stanton Andrews Memorial Town Hall is the hub of bustling activity throughout the year. The red-brick building, with its impressive white columns at the entrance, has been a part of this town since 1936, when work on the beautiful building began. Named to honor the memory of a very generous resident, the hall boasts an auditorium, with 450 seats, fireplaces, a Clinton Historical Society Museum Room, as well as a kitchen that can serve about 2,000 guests. Nestled in the Yale University Campus, Battell Chapel was built in the late 19th Century and is one of the largest chapels on campus. The chapel boasts of beautiful Victorian Gothic style of architecture and was designed by Russell Sturgis, a famed architect of the country. This chapel has gone several renovations and sees architectural elements by Josiah Cleaveland Cady. The interiors of this charming chapel include a beautiful altar, chapel clock with five bells, an apse, magnificent stained-glass windows and more. Besides being a religious place, the chapel is also used as an event venue and hosts several concerts and music events regularly.
