Telescope Peak

The highest point in Death Valley National Park, Telescope Peak is a formidable peak of the Panamint Range. The peak is named so because it offers seemingly endless views of breathtaking mountains, Mount Whitney and Charleston Peak in Nevada. Though a challenging climb, some dare to reach the summit of the peak with the reward of mesmerizing views.

Golden Canyon

Yet another interesting site that's a part of the Death Valley National Park, Golden Canyon is a prominent destination for nature walks. A hike here takes visitors through a maze-like landscape consisting of canyons and undulating hills that sport a vivid yellow hue. The color seems to appear golden under the bright sun hence the name of the place. Red Cathedral, a geological formation that consists of cliffs with red-colored rocks marks the end of the hike.

Wildrose Charcoal Kilns

Also referred to as Charcoal Kilns, the Wildrose Charcoal kilns are regarded as one of Death Valley National Park's most popular historical features. Dating back to 1877 and credited to the Modock Consolidated Mining Company, the kilns were used to fuel the ore extraction and smelting operations in the mines of the Argus Range. Rising to a height of 25 feet, the masonry structures are well worth a visit.

Harmony Borax Works

The Harmony Borax Works is a former ore processing plant located at the Death Valley National Park in California. The plant started operations in 1883 and shut down after five years. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. The remnants of the processing unit can be seen even today.

Furnace Creek Visitor Center

Make a quick stop at Furnace Creek Visitor Center before you begin your adventurous day at the Death Valley National Park. The center is home to exhibits that provide information about the national park. Do not miss out on the 20-minutes film that gives an insight into the history of the park. Visitors can also speak with park rangers here to gather additional information about the place. The on-site bookstore has a collection of interesting literature related to Death Valley National Park.

Twenty Mule Team Canyon

Drama ensues as soon as one takes the drive through Twenty Mule Team Canyon. The canyon is bestowed with a constantly changing topography which is its unique proposition. While arid undulating hills make one section of the canyon, rugged rock formations appear from nowhere to surprise your vision. It is interesting to note that an episode of the Space Opera Series, Star Wars was also filmed here. The canyon is quite popular among cross-country hikers. Hiking trails delight visitors with hidden gems such as ravines, slot canyons, and even mine tunnels.
