Daniel McCook House was built in 1837 by Major Daniel McCook and served as a residence for him and his family till 1848. The Antebellum house displays prominent Federal architecture and has many periodic rooms with all the antique furnishings. The central door is one of the main attractions of the house and there are two chimneys as well as an exquisite sandstone arc. It is currently owned by the Carroll County Historical Society and functions as a house museum. They also have on display the life of the McCook family popularly known as the 'Fighting McCooks' due to their major contribution towards the American Civil War.
