Denver Pavilions

The Denver Pavilions, located downtown at the south end of the 16th Street Mall, is Denver's latest upscale shopping plaza and entertainment center, stocked with popular chains. This three-tiered, open-air venue is a hotspot of activity, especially around lunchtime. The stylish Wolfgang Puck Cafe headlines the dining destinations, along with tourist favorite Hard Rock Café. A 15-screen United Artists movie complex occupies the third floor. All the standard retail chains, including GAP, Banana Republic, Niketown and Ann Taylor are scattered about the plaza.

16th Street Mall

The mall is a mile-long, tree-lined promenade stretching through the heart of downtown. Bustling with street vendors, souvenir shops, clothing and jewelry stores, and a plethora of bars and restaurants, this energetic strip offers plenty of variety. The Denver Pavilions, at the entrance of the mall, is a new open-air shopping plaza filled with trendy chains, including the Denver edition of the Hard Rock Café. The D & F Tower, a 325-foot (100-meter) replica of the Campanile (bell tower) in Venice, graces the center of the mall. The Tabor Center adds to the shopping enthusiasm. Free shuttles provide transportation up and down the mall, allowing for convenient cross-town sightseeing.

Pearl Street Mall

One of Boulder's most treasured landmarks, this outdoor pedestrian mall boasts an array of boutiques and shops peddling an assortment of goods, from music to kites to trendy clothing. Located in the heart of the city, the tree lined, brick walkway also features a regular host of street performers and unusual Boulder characters. After shopping for the perfect present or browsing one of the art galleries, spend the afternoon on one of the many cafe patios. Sip your favorite beverage, soak in the sunshine and take in the street activity. A play area for children features an assortment of boulders to climb on.

Lawrence Covell

Owners Lawrence and Cathy Covell personally select their exclusive designer clothing from runways in New York and Milan. The boutique, located in the posh Cherry Creek North Shopping District, offers men's and women's clothing, including sophisticated suits, as well as sportswear and accessories. Featured designers include Claude Montana, Yeohlee and Vestimente. If you are attempting to make an eyebrow raising fashion statement for a special occasion this is the clothing store to visit. The Hermitage Bookshop

The faint scent of old paper comforts readers coming to The Hermitage Bookshop from far and wide. Lining the shelves are titles from a forgotten time lovingly preserved by the keepers of this book house. Nestled into the leather chairs or propped on a stool, readers are yet again taken on journeys through time and tradition at one of the oldest bookstores in the city. The store also seeks to keep alive the art of reading with read aloud sessions for students and children.
