Centro Storico

Centro Storico also known as the Old Town in Cortina D'ampezzo, Italy is a quaint little town with impressive architecture. Roaming the quiet streets, you are sure to come across some cute cafes and shops to explore. It is one of the best ways to take a break from sightseeing and all the outdoor activities and just stroll across the town.

Collegiata di San Candido (Historic Boarding House)

The San Candido College is the oldest in Tyrol history. Next to the venerable church of the convent is the main house which has been transformed into a museum open to the public. One of the oldest constructions in Alta Pusteria, it documents the history and intellectual and spiritual activity of the ancient college, that, created in 769 by the Bavarian count Tassilo III as a Benedictine convent, was transformed into a college in 1140. The treasure of the cathedral should be visited, while the library, rich in manuscripts, can only be visited with the permission of the direction of the museum.

Pragser Wildsee

One of the most beautiful lakes in South Tyrol, Pragser Wildsee sits surrounded by Felsberg and Niederdorf of the Puster Valley. From the parking lot, a pathway leads through the dense green forest to a point that opens up to the mesmerizing lake. Lush dark green forests, massive mountain rocks, and clear waters take the breath away. From this point, one can choose three different viewpoints to observe the lake and the surrounding panorama. One is by a mountain trail that goes 3.5 kilometers (2.2 miles), the second is by the Dolomites high route to view the entire place from above the lake, and the third is to ride one of the historic boats available to reach the center of the lake and have a 360-degree view of the beautiful lake and its surrounding mountains. With spellbinding scenery, the pristine lake is no less than magical.

Parco Dolomiti di Sesto

The Dolomiti di Sesto make up the northeastern spurs of the Dolomites, with the three Lavaredo peaks (Cima Grande at 2999 meters [9800 feet]), the Gruppo di Rocca and Croda dei Baranci, the Cima Dodici (3094 meters [10,150 feet]), the Croda Rossa (3,152 meters [10,340 feet]) and the Punta Tre Scarperi (3,152 meters). The towns of Dobbiaco, Sesto, and San Candido are the places from which you should start your excursions into the nature reserve. These towns are always full of tourists, many of whom have been coming here for twenty or thirty years. In fact, it is unlikely that anyone who has come here once will not visit the area again. As well as drawing together the natural monuments of the mountainous chain, which can be easily identified by their peaks, the nature reserve contains some spectacular lakes (Zinnen, Piani, and Malga di Mezzo) and some beautiful dolomitic flowers, from the dwarf rhododendron to the bellflower.

Parco Naturale Vedrette di Ries/Aurina (Nature Reserve)

The Vedrette di Ries/Aurina Nature Reserve makes up a whole with the Austrian national park which borders it. It is a region of primitive rock forms and various daring and unusual peaks such as the Collalto (3435 meters [11,300 feet]), Monte Nevoso (3358 meters [11,000 feet]), and the Cima dei Tre Signori (3499 meters [11,500 feet]). The park incorporates the Valle di Anterselva, where you can also find one of the first and most interesting protected biotopes (Rasun-Anterselva), the Val di Tures - one of the most intact in the whole Alto Adige, and the Valle Aurina, where there is still evidence of past mining activity, also celebrated in the Museo Provinciale delle Miniere at Cadipietra. The reserve is also characterized by raging torrents, glaciers on the northern slopes, a rich fauna (including foxes and ermines), and the highest pine trees in the eastern Alps, at an altitude of 2465 meters (8000 feet).

Wildpark Assling

Sprawled out over a massive expanse, this wild park is home to a plethora of animals such as lynxes, sheep, wild pigs, eagles, wildcats and much more. During the summer months, the park also hosts toboggan runs that are particularly popular among families and young children.
