"Manor by the Lake"

Found in the small village of Dewlish in the county of Dorset, Dewlish house is a country manor reported to be built by Thomas Skinner in 1702. A tributary of river Piddle, the Devil's Brook, forms a lake to its south. The building was inhabited by the Michel family from 1756. Field Marshal John Michel spent his childhood at the manor between 1804 and 1823 and later returned to during his retirement years from 1880 and 1886. It is now the private residence of Tony Boyden and his family.
