Pygmalion is a great amalgamation of a restaurant, bar, and nightclub. The trendy venue is located on South William Street, at the Powerscourt Townhouse Center. Open all week, from 12p onward, Pygmalion, or Pyg, as it is locally nicknamed, serves brunch, lunch, and dinner, and remains open long after that as well. Owing to its popularity, it fills up pretty soon, so be a little early to get good seats. Along with delicious food and some stellar drinks, Pyg also boasts of an awesome music line up, including international DJs. So, step in, eat, drink and make merry at this wonderful Temple Bar bar, you'd soon be coming back for more!

John Kavanagh The Gravediggers

Taking its name from the Glasnevin Cemetery next door, Kavanagh's The Gravediggers is a legendary Dublin pub and has been around since 1833, remaining virtually unchanged for over 150 years. Referenced in cinema, literature and a bevvy of television commercials, this local watering hole is a great place for a Guinness and good conversation. During the summer months find hardened locals and visitors alike posted up at the bar or outside enjoying the sunshine.

The Workmans Club

After a long day in the city, if you are looking for a place where you can unwind in the presence of good beers and great music, then The Workmans Club is one spot you must explore. This two-story bar has a performance area downstairs where talented bands, as well as soloist, entertain patrons till wee hours of the night. The room is intimate, dimly lit and the acoustics are near perfect; it has standing capacity only but if you wish to sit back and relax then you should head to their roof bar. Here you can have quiet conversations under a canopy of stars with potent drinks to keep you company.

The PantiBar is the pride of the local LGBT community in Dublin. This trendy spot has a stunning interior that's brought to life with vibrant colors. The bar boasts of eclectic spirits, and the bartenders are amicable and quite generous with their pours. Entertainment in the form of drag shows keeps evenings interesting here. Patrons are friendly, making PantiBar a place where you can bring your friends or make new ones.

Bowe's Lounge

This charming traditional pub is often frequented by journalists, due to the fact that it's directly across the road from the side entrance to the Irish Times building. The bar's interior remains virtually untouched by the ravages of the Celtic Tiger, and the antique décor and polished woodwork make for a relaxing pint. The function room upstairs is sometimes used for literary events such as poetry readings and writers' workshops.

Located under three railway arches that make up the elevated DART train line, this unusual and recently renovated pub has a medieval feel to it (with candles and everything) and its large sofas certainly make for a relaxing pint. Due to the hoards of after-work people who descend into O'Reilly on Friday evenings, it's probably best for a mid-week drink.
