Locks Restaurant

One among Portobello's finest restaurants, Locks has been serving Dublin city's locals with some really delectable food since its inception back in the 1980s. The large windows add to the beautifully decorated interiors of the restaurant welcoming bright sunlight during the summers and offering beautiful views of the verdant surroundings. The cheerful and hospitable staff only add to the warm and inviting atmosphere of the family-run restaurant. The classic dining area offers an opulent seating arrangement which is comfortable yet elegant. The lunch and dinner menu both boast of a variety of Irish dishes, including pork, beef and lamb. Don't forget to get a taste of the Irish wines offered here as well.

The Cedar Tree

The Cedar Tree is a low-key basement restaurant which is conducive to late nights and bottles of red wine. This is one of the few Lebanese restaurants in the city and is probably the most successful: the atmosphere is perfect and the menu is delicious, with plenty of choices for vegetarians. Dig into Shish Taouk or Kibbe Saynieh and end the meal with a traditional Baklawa, or call for a glass of Lebanese wine. If you decide to try out this spot, certainly check out their schedule to see when the next belly dancing performance will take place.

Siam Thai

There are two Dublin locations of this fabulous Thai restaurant, one in Monkstown and the other in Malahide. The décor is Asian in feel, and is dark and cosy, without feeling over the top. The service is efficient and the food mouth watering and delicious. Siam Thai serves typical Thai cuisine, with no surprises except for the fact that it's of an exceptionally good standard. South-city branch: 8a The Crescent, Monkstown, Co Dublin.

Thai Orchid

While its rather uninspiring location on Westmoreland Street may detract the kind of restaurateur that likes to be seen in all the right places, the Thai Orchid is a surprisingly pleasant restaurant which unusually features quite a preponderance of plant-life. The menu offers a well-balanced menu of not particularly adventurous, but tasty and reliable spicy dishes. It's not really the place for a special occasion, but it's a good choice for a tasty meal.

FXB Steak & Seafood

FXB Steak & Seafood on Crow Street is among the best steakhouses in town and is from the stables of the F.X.Buckley chain. Their meats (mostly Angus and Hereford) are dry aged and are cooked as per your taste. They are hand-cut by their in-house trained butchers. Check out the information on different cuts and the definition of rare to well-done beautifully explained on one side of the wall. While the drawings put on frames and butcher's bicycle are an interesting sight. The industrial decor complements the restaurant well. Savor their dishes like Home-Cured Irish Salmon, Creamy Seafood Chowder, Free Range Corn-Fed Irish Chicken, Sirloin Steak, Steak and Seafood, Porterhouse and Pan Fried Hake. Their menu is seasonal to bring the flavors of Irish ingredients. Pair your meal with wine, cocktails or fine spirits.

Relish regional Indian dishes especially from the south western part of the country at the award-winning restaurant Konkan. Not only can patrons call for dishes like Papri Chat, Chicken Malai Tikka and Prawn Zaffrani Biryani, but the restaurant also features a number of signature dishes like the Pondicheri Lamb Stew. Comprising of lamb cooked in thin coconut milk, and sprinkled with cardamom and coriander to add flavor, this Indian delicacy is sure to tantalize your taste buds. Besides the a la carte menu, the restaurant also offers to its patrons tasting and early bird menus. Balance the savory Indian flavors with a drink from the bar menu that includes wines from all over the globe including France, Australia and even Chile. If you are looking for a memorable Indian meal, an evening at Konkan can be a great idea.
