Nando's is most famous for its peri-peri sauce, which takes its name from what some call the "bird's eye chilli." Spicyness is measured in Scoville units and peri-peri carries a comfortable 8,000-18,000 Scoville units (Habanero chillies are the hottest and they measure about 200,000). One can get chicken in every conceivable incarnation at Nando's. For example: chicken burger, chicken pita, chicken wrap, chicken on a roll, or even chicken...steak? There isn't much on the menu that doesn't have chicken or peri-peri, but there are some vegetarian options. Pay attention to the walls if you visit; Nando's supports local artists and each franchise is decorated differently.
