Built during the 1920's in Tudor Revival style, Playhouse was taken over by the Performing Arts Council in the 1980's. The Company's mission is to provide cultural education and entertainment in both an African and international context. Within the complex there are several theaters which house a variety of productions simultaneously. Alongside the production and performance work of its Drama and Dance departments, the Company's Education and Development department has an active program, presenting mobile theater to schools. This stadium, named after the former General Secretary of the South African Communist Party, was constructed in the Durban sports precinct for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Its unique design allows it to both expand to 80,000-person capacity and reduce to hold 54,000 people. The modern structure includes a large arch which symbolizes the country's struggles and unification.

The Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre houses an audience of up to 400 with comfortable stadium-style seating. Before or after the performances, you can check out the tavern or the coffee shop which are attached to the building. The company was founded by University of KwaZulu-Natal Professor Elizabeth Sneddon, and was the first theater in the area to service the drama department of a university. The EST hosts about 17 productions a year.
Kingsmead, officially known as Sahara Stadium, is home to the Natal provincial cricket team, which includes players such as the acrobatic fielder and batsman Jonty Rhodes. Kingsmead is also a regular venue for internationals. Tours take place regularly, but in general, cricket is a summer game - phone to find out what cricket is on and when, or pick up a season fixture card from the ground. The ground is located very close to the center of town on Old Fort Road, and has a capacity of 25,000.
The Opera Theatre in Durban is an extremely prestigious theater, where world class operas take place. The theater's architecture, its decor and ambiance reflect the Elizabethan style.
