This family-run shop is situated about 30km from the center of Durban on the old road to Pietermaritzberg. Fred and Rona Cason specialize in stained glass, hot glass, ceramics and wrought iron, with the emphasis on light-fittings. That said, the shop also stocks candles, gifts, hammocks and other bits and pieces for the home. The stained glass lampshades are quite magnificent, and definitely worth the drive out if that is what you're looking for.
Phezulu is a large curio shop located at the Phezulu cultural center in Botha's Hill; about half-way to Pietermaritzberg. Although some way out of Durban, it is worth the drive. Make a day trip of it! There is plenty in the area to keep you and your children entertained. The curio shop carries a wide range of Zulu artifacts, and is an excellent place to pick up that special item, while enjoying the location. There are magnificent views from the balcony over the Valley of 1000 Hills.
