"Historical Bridge"
Meriç Köprüsü or Meric Bridge is one of the oldest bridges in Edirne. The name of the bridge means new bridge, and it was constructed during the reign of Ottaman Sultan. The bridge is built above river Meric, which adds to the beauty of the place. The construction of the bridge was under progress from 1808-1839 and was completed by 1843. The bridge has arc like structures beneath and these curvy structures are lit during the evening giving it a most picturesque look. The length of the bridge is 263 meter long (863 feet) and seven meter wide (23 feet). The bridge has a historical significance and is a must visit spot to admire the ancient work.
