Established in 1899, St. Joachim's is one of the oldest churches in the city. The magnificent church building, with its striking Gothic details was designed by architect Francis X. Deggendorfer, and is one of the city's architectural treasures. There were a few prominent additions made to the original structure over the years, including the eye-catching steeple in 1901. The church has an active congregation and serves Edmonton's downtown area.
