Schottenkirche St. Nicolai und St. Jacobi

Schottenkirche St. Nicolai und St. Jacobi has undergone a lot of changes architecturally over the years since its existence in the Middle Ages as an Irish Benedictine abbey church. It has also seen a lot happening in the course of history. Originally built as a Romanesque church with a three-nave basilica, it was partially destroyed by a fire that burnt the city in 1472. It was later built in Gothic style with a Baroque facade in the west during the 18th Century. It was among the several casualties during the World War II bombings and underwent years of major renovation to restore it.
