"The Wise Time Capsule"
A walk through Wise Homestead Museum will give you a peek into the day to day lives of residents in Erie, in the late 1800s. This 1000-square feet (93 square meter) homestead belonged to Oliver Wise, his wife Adaline, and their three children who migrated from Wisconsin to Colorado in 1869. After receiving the Government’s permission to build a homestead in 1870, they built a two-storeyed home with a kitchen, pantry and three bedrooms. Generations later in 2007, the homestead was restored and reopened as a museum by Oliver’s great-granddaughter Sarah Wise. To keep it as authentic as possible, they renovated and maintained the homestead’s original interiors and exteriors. A tour through Wise Homestead Museum will definitely take you back to a time, when life was not as fast-paced as it is today.
