Iglesia de Santa María is a simple and beautiful church built at the site of an Arab mosque. With a long standing history dating back to 1560, this church features the images of Virgen del Rosario and San Agustín, and a painting made by the German painter, Michael Sucker. This church was also used for defense purposes and its exteriors are constructed with stone ashlars. You can also explore the adjoining cemetery, Plaza del Parterre that features depictions of the Reconquest.

Fuente Pública De Mojácar is a beautiful fountain that provides water to the locals of Mojácar and other nearby areas. Tucked away in the Pueblo Hilltop, the water of this fountain flows through a courtyard that is dotted with aesthetic flower pots and plants. Here, a Moorish mayor named, Alavez requested a Catholic envoy, Reyes Católicos to allow the Muslim people to inhabit the village. This village had been home to the Muslims since approximately 700 years.

Situated in the Sierra Cabrera hills, Mojácar Pueblo is a quaint town that seems to resemble an illustrated postcard. ‘Pueblo’ means ‘town’ in Spanish and its origins trace back to 2000 BC. It was inhabited by Greeks, Romans and North African Moors. Navigate through the narrow streets of Old Town whilst you admire the beauty of ornamental plants like bougainvillaea and the aesthetic white-washed houses. You will also be treated to a breath-taking view of the mountains and surrounding hills. A great place to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
