Murdock Stadium was build in 1958 and is located within the premises of El Camino College. The original structure was demolished in 2016, and a state of the art stadium was build in its place for the benefit of the crowd. The stadium is the home ground of the El Camino College Football Team and also has hosted many FIFA World Cup Qualification Matches. The stadium has a total capacity of 12,127.
Part of the larger Huntington Botanical Gardens (covering 120 acres or 48.56 hectares of garden space), the Subtropical Garden covers 4 acres (1.62 hectares) of the hillside space on the Raymond Hill earthquake fault. It features a wide variety of plants, flowers, trees and shrubs from the tropics. The south-facing slope of the garden remains warm, making it suitable for planting tropical floral species. Pink cape chestnuts, lavender-blue jacarandas and the golden trumpet tree are some of the popular flowering tree species that can be found in this garden. It is also home to different species of salvia that give the garden its colorful and vibrant look.
Inspired by traditional Chinese gardens, The Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens' Chinese Garden is considered to among the largest of its kind outside China. Not a mean feat considering every tiny detail has been taken care. From the architecture to the layout, water elements and artworks, everything is intricately planned and reflects the Chinese culture.
The Huntington Children's Garden is part of the larger Huntington Botanical Gardens located in San Marino and has been designed by leading artist Ned Kahn. This theme garden features interactive sculptural elements based on the four natural elements of water, fire, earth and air. The fire section of the garden features a prism tunnel, rainbow room and topiary volcano, the earth area includes magnetic sand, pebble chimes and LA-centered globe, while the water and air sections of the garden feature a sonic pool, vortex and water bells, and fog grotto, and fragrance garden, respectively. Visitors are also offered the option to explore the garden using Discovery Carts that provide first hand experience in handling live plants and other artifacts.
