Set in a former church, this funky joint draws a great deal of business from the local Pakistani and Indian community, a good comment on the authenticity of its fare. Stop by for Indian dishes that employ longstanding family cooking secrets from the old country. In keeping with the healthy theme, no smoking is permitted in the restaurant, and no alcohol is served.

The Sun Dial Restaurant, Bar & View

Located atop The Westin Peachtree Plaza, this rotating restaurant provides stunning views of the entire metro area, and a spectacular setting for a business lunch or special occasion. The creative American menu features artfully-prepared favorites, including many beef and poultry selections. A separate rotating bar is located directly below the restaurant for taking in the view without the steep dinner ticket. Live jazz plays in the lounge on weekend nights. Jacket and tie recommended for gentlemen.

There seems to be a new wave of Thai restaurants in Atlanta, but Surin of Thailand stands out as special. The fare is unique and expertly done, including such dishes as soft shell crabs with asparagus sauce and spicy papaya salad. The no-nonsense dining room is simple and cozy. It can get crowded here, but the wait almost serves as part of the experience. More upscale than most Thai joints, Surin is a bit pricier. They also have a full bar.

For those who simply want to stray from the norm, try the ramen or udon noodle soup combined with slices of Spam and generous amounts of broccoli. If you don't like it, you can always wash it down with a Hawaiian beer.

The food menu is limited but serves good meats from The Spotted Trotter, including hot dogs, burgers, and fries.
