National Cryptologic Museum
Located in Annapolis Junction appropriately near NSA Headquarters, the National Cryptologic Museum highlights the USA's declassified spy craft techniques from the 18th-Century to the present day. The Cold War and computer development exhibitions are extraordinary while the detail on agency use of language is enlightening. Additionally, the code breaking abilities of the U.S. during World War II is also a prominent feature in the museum. It's definitely one of the most overlooked museums in the entire region, but you can easily visit when driving on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. It's free to the public and open Monday through Friday as well as the 1st and 3rd Saturday each month.
The Crown
This Station North secluded bar is a 2013 addition that has become a rage among the hip and creative crowd of the neighborhood. Located on the second floor of the Hyundai Plaza, you have to buzz in to enter this minimalist designed bar. From draft beers, good food to karaoke rooms, musical nights, readings and movie screenings, there is lots going on in The Crown.
The Holy Underground
You have to climb down a short stairway to reach this basement DIY venue. The Holy Underground is an art collective that is open to all ages and hosts regular art exhibitions, theater and concerts. Though they do not charge for their shows, donations are always welcome. Some of their previous listings are Surf Harp, Sun Club, Andy Dale Petty, Gamble Cosmos and Curtains.
Iris Garden
Iris Garden is a part of the historic Ladew Gardens that is open for public tours across spectacular gardens and houses. Beauty of the Iris garden lies in its 65 varieties of iris and a unique Buddha statue. It is truly a delightful tourist spot surrounded by natural trails, beautiful stream, flowers, plants and trees.
