Situado en el corazón de South End, Toro es un animado bar de tapas del estilo de Barcelona. Coppa

Ken Oringer is at the helm of Coppa and he is one of Boston's best loved fine dining chefs, with Toro and Clio also under his belt. This quaint little rustic restaurant, with its incredible selection of wines and mixed drinks, is a pleasant contrast to many of the sleek uptown restaurants that it shares a berth with. The food puts unexpected twists on classic Italian cuisine, such as the famed carbonara with sea urchin - not for the culinary faint-of-heart. More traditional dishes abound, from gnocchi with pork ragu, sage and pecorino to the perfectly wood-fired pizza.

Brown Sugar Cafe

Brown Sugar Cafe is an acclaimed Thai eatery in the city. A pot of sweet brown sugar graces every table, the menu is huge and the service is friendly. This cozy neighborhood place, which serves beer and wine, is known for its country pad Thai and drunken noodles. Seafood dishes include salmon choo chee and the fisherman madness - a spicy combo of crustaceans and filets. Patio dining is a good choice when weather permits.

Franklin Cafe

Deep in the South End, there is a small establishment where inexpensive, gourmet-quality food really does exist. The menu at Franklin Cafe ranges from meatloaf to sushi-grade tuna, all served with impeccable sides such as mashed potatoes with chives or lentil and bean sauce. Even the chicken livers are great here. The dining room is small and crowded, and the noise level can be high. This cafe, which has a full service bar, is very popular, and waits of an hour or two are common, even on weekdays.

The cafeteria-style seating arrangements and the contemporary menu has made Uburger a hit amongst the local Boston youth, especially students. Publick House

Publick House has a large selection of beers. With 20 beer taps, micro-brews and imported ales it is a veritable beer heaven. Young people frequent this place for after work drinks and for the singles scene. The food is eclectic and tasty especially after the long wait for a table. The menu is inspired by German and Belgian pubs and has the ambiance and decor to go with it.
