Eastham Windmill

The Eastham Windmill was built by Thomas Paine in Plymouth in 1680. Later it was moved to Truro and then to Eastham where it is located today. It is a venue for the Eastham Windmill Weekend festival that is held here on the first weekend after Labor Day. Due to it's historic importance the windmill has found a place in the National Register of Historic Places.

Harris-Black House and Higgins Farm Windmill

If you wish to visit a place that lets you go back into time and experience a bygone age, then you must head straight to the Harris-Black House. This old house was home to a poor blacksmith who stayed with his family. A visit to the edifice provides an insight into the way of life that must have been during the 17th century. A few steps away from the Harris-Black House is the Higgins Farm Windmill, an 18th century smock windmill. The windmill was under operation until 1900 after which it was designated as historical site. The Harris-Black House and Higgins Farm Windmill truly send you back to the colonial times. Call for timings.

Jonathan Young Windmill

Built in 1720, The Jonathan Young Windmill is a unique piece of historical machinery which was used to grind grains and was initially powered by strong water currents at that time. It was in the year 1839 that the water-powered mill was converted into a wind mill due to lack of strong flowing water from the streams. The windmill, today, rests at the 'Town Cove Park', with the restoration efforts of the volunteers of the Orleans Historical Society and in 1990 was donated to the town.

Portuguese Square

The resort town of Provincetown has long been associated with a rich history and heritage influenced by the Portuguese, markers of which can still be seen around town. Named in honor of the town's past, Portuguese Square forms the heart of Provincetown and is a popular gathering place for residents. The public square is best known as the main venue of the annual Provincetown Portuguese Festival - a celebration of Portuguese culture in all its manifestations with food, live music, dance and more.
