Este museo al aire libre fue fundado en 1909 en la popular isla recreativa de Seurasaari. La exhibición permanente incluye arquitectura campesina finlandesa y se exhiben 85 construcciones traídas desde varias partes del país. Hay retretes exteriores, columpios, botes remeros de dos filas, un pozo ardiente de alquitrán y la iglesia Karuna de madera (1686). El fundador del museo, el profesor de etnología Axel Olai Heikel, fue sepultado junto a la iglesia. El edificio de dos plantas cuenta con interiores perfectamente preservados.
