This two-story bar has a performance area downstairs where talented bands, as well as soloist, entertain patrons till wee hours of the night. The room is intimate, dimly lit and the acoustics are near perfect; it has standing capacity only but if you wish to sit back and relax then you should head to their roof bar. McGowan's is a great place to go for a no-nonsense, fun night. You're likely to meet someone from every part of Ireland. The pub seems to be somewhat of a home away from home for lonely students and younger workers. The pub's sheer size means that there are many areas to mingle or sit, and a huge dance floor upstairs means that you won't feel cramped despite the large crowd. The dress code is relaxed. Entry is free before 11p but you need to shell out IEP3 after.
