A much newer cathedral than Our Beloved Lady right nearby, the Sint-Salvator Cathedral is an amalgam of architecture dating from as far back as the 9th Century up to the present day. Today, the church holds the largest congregation in Bruges and the tapestries by Jasper van der Borcht in 1731 are just one of the highlights while here.

Located right near the 't Zand square, the concert building was placed here just in time for the celebration of Bruges as the European Capital of Culture in 2002. Today, the Concertgebouw hosts a large number of shows due to its acoustics (regarded as some of the best in the world), and every spectacle is highly intimate with 1290 seats spread over three levels, there is no such thing as a bad seat.

One of the hidden secrets in Bruges, this little bar focuses on the quality of music the way some pubs in town focus on the beer selection. Everyone who is in the know flock to the Soulbar where the bands range from straight-ahead jazz to electronic and latino rhythms. So if you want authenticity just outside of the center in Sint-Andries, grab a taxi, go on in, order a Chimay draught and relax.

Part of the larger Cactus Muziekcentrum, the Magdalenazaal is the anchor to the whole complex. The hall hosts various musical acts, from soca to rock, the shows are always different. The MaZ as it is affectionately known is a little outside of the center in the neighborhood of Sint-Michiels, and depending on the headliner, it usually is worth the trip.

Cactus Muziekcentrum is one of the major promoters for concerts in the city, its main hall is the Magdalenazaal which is located in Sint-Andries (southwest of Bruges' city center), but they also promote other events around town. Cactus is also known for its highly popular Cactusfestival, which has been elected as best European Small Festival 2009. Other notable events are the Klinkers and Music in Mind festivals; the former is a music fest for 15 days held at different venues around the city, (the most spectacular shows are at the Minnewater) and the latter is a fête that celebrates progressive dance and rock music.

Muziekclub 4AD as the name suggests is a club dedicated to music. Throughout the year, it hosts concerts featuring local, national and even international artists and bands. There is no restriction about the genres being played here, from pop to jazz, the events calender boasts off a vivid variety. Though, primarily, 4AD focuses on music, musicians, singers and song writers, it also ventures beyond that and hosts art exhibitions, drama, workshops, seminars and similar events pertaining to different forms of art. Given the nature of events held here and its pursuit for innovation, Muziekclub 4AD can rightly be touted as creative hub of the city.
