This is a very popular old-style lunch restaurant, not far from Hjbro Plads, dates back to the 18th Century, and has belonged to the Kik family since 1910. Kik is a place where ordinary Danes go for lunch with a beer and schnapps. In this crowded, smoky restaurant, the traditional smørrebrød, (open-faced sandwich) reigns supreme. Here, you won't find a single leaf of coriander or drop of balsamic vinegar: this is old-school Danish. All the open sandwiches available are lined up on a big table, and what you see is exactly what you get! Then you order, and while you wait at your table the open sandwiches are freshly made, typically with rye bread, butter, herring and onions or mature Danish cheese and a drop of rum. Another classic is smoked salmon with fresh dill on it. A good selection of Danish schnapps is available.

Bang & Jensen

Peder Oxe's Vinklder

Sunrise, Metropolitan, Between the Sheets, New Classics, Old Classics: this up-to-date bar has all the cocktail mixes, and they serve them with a smile. The word Vinklder actually means Wine Cellar, but that was a long time ago when in the 16th Century this location used to be a monastery. Now the monks have turned into cocktail waitresses and virtue has been replaced with vice - or maybe just nice. The bar serves delicious burgers and, if you are lucky, a plate of oysters from the restaurant upstairs. Try the Strawberry Daiquiri, a favorite with the regulars. The bar also has a wide selection of foreign beers such as Leffe, Budvar, and Hoegarden.

Bryggeriet Apollo

Apollo is Copenhagen's first brewery and restaurant, located next to the Tivoli Gardens main entrance. Live jazz performances occur on the first Sunday of every month, accompanied with a special menu. The beer is cloudy and delicious, as it is both unfiltered and unpasteurized. The restaurant offers a small but varied range of dishes, some containing beer. If you come in the daytime, you might see the brewer himself working by the handmade copper pots, always eager to answer your questions about his beer.

Djäkne Kaffebar

Djäkne Kaffebar, one of the popular joints among the locals of Malmo who want to indulge themselves in some delicious coffees.
