Ubicada en un momento en la tranquilidad de la calle de la catedral, actualmente la catedral se encuentra en medio del bullicio de la ciudad. Los exteriores rojos de ladrillos están llenos de agujas góticas. Adentro, los pisos fríos de mármol, los cielo rasos abovedados y un hermoso altar de mármol son un pacifico santuario en esta parte de la ciudad. La catedral todavía ofrece servicio diario y le da la bienvenida a quien desee unirse a la congregación.
This picturesque mosque is situated on the banks of the Umgeni River, north of the city center. It is most beautiful at dawn when the gentle light of the rising sun reflects pink off the waters of the Umgeni and the pale walls of the mosque. This beautiful building has been declared a National Monument. Together with its grand dome and towering minarets, it has become one of Durban's most treasured sights. Visitors are welcome, but must remove their shoes before entering. There is a separate entrance for men and women.
The Holy Trinity is located in Musgrave opposite St Thomas Church. It is housed in a stone building with a large and intricate mosaic adorning the outer wall, above the main entrance. This is a refreshing mix of the old and the new, without the austerity of bygone days.
Surrounded by furniture and antique shops, this mosque has become a landmark with its tower jutting up between the buildings. It is one of a number of old and attractive buildings that date back to some of the earliest days of Durban's history. The outer walls are painted a refreshing peppermint green color. Visitors are welcome but requested to leave their shoes at the entrance.
Built during the 1920's in Tudor Revival style, Playhouse was taken over by the Performing Arts Council in the 1980's. The Company's mission is to provide cultural education and entertainment in both an African and international context. Within the complex there are several theaters which house a variety of productions simultaneously. Alongside the production and performance work of its Drama and Dance departments, the Company's Education and Development department has an active program, presenting mobile theater to schools. This picturesque Hindu Temple is located close to the city center, and makes for an interesting visit regardless of faith. It is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, but Shiva is also worshipped here. Visitors are welcome, but must leave their shoes at the entrance before entering. Both men and women are welcome to enter the shrine. Visitors should try and time their visit in the mornings, as this is the most convenient time for worshippers.
