A non-profit professional theater associated with the University of California, San Diego, the theater provides a number of educational opportunities for children, teens, and adults alike. The Playhouse sponsors roughly six productions per year; previous productions that originated at the Playhouse before finding Broadway success include The Who's Tommy, Billy Crystal's 700 Sundays, and Jersey Boys.
