Liliesleaf is the site where members of the African National Congress revolted against the oppressive apartheid rule and plotted to bring down the despotic empire, which then led to the Rivonia Trial. Now converted into a history museum, Liliesleaf showcases the eventful past of the tribal land and the various hardships its revolutionaries faced in a bid to eradicate racism from the country. The farm's several rooms as well as outhouses are home to a wide collection of some riveting objects which provide a glimpse into the life and times of the iconic characters. The displays also acquaint visitors with how the activists drafted their plans against the cruel political forces. A key attraction is the 1980s' safari wagon which smuggled arms into the country. Declared as a heritage site, the museum is one of the must-visit places in Johannesburg.

Located in the internationally renowned valley of Kromdraai, the Wondercave lies amidst famous archaeological and palaentological sites containing the oldest recorded human remains. This natural wonder has only been open to the public since 1991 and is decorated with rock and crystal formations dating back millions of years; the cave itself has been in existence for 2200 million years. Hourly tours are conducted by competent guides along well-lit pathways, and no crawling is necessary.

Located on the Khumalo Street in Soweto, Hector Pieterson Memorial Site a poignant remembrance to the event on the day of 16 June 1976, set at the peak of apartheid in South Africa. On that day, a peaceful march carried out by school students in Soweto turned deadly with 20 students falling to the bullets of the police. Located couple of blocks away from the site that made Hector Pieterson the face of the student-struggle against apartheid across South Africa, the memorial is visited by tourists as well as locals in large numbers. The museum located on the Maseko Street displays photographs, audio-visual recordings and other artifacts that portray the youth struggle during the anti-apartheid campaign.
