The statue was erected in 1870, when the park was originally known as Victoria Park. The Cinchona Botanical Gardens is one of those off-the-beaten-path destinations tucked away high up on the majestic Blue Mountains. This nature lover's attraction is only accessible via a jeep ride or a two-hour hike. The park was originally a plantation in 1868 where the cinchona tree grew side by side with assam tea trees.
