Set against the Étoile mountain range, the winding road hugs a coastline dotted with enchanting rocky inlets and small ports, at times difficult to access, but which comprise the maritime National Park known as the Côte Bleue. Start off at the sailing port of l'Estaque, where many a contemporary artist has set up their easel. As you explore the coast, discover delights like the Méjean inlet (surrounded by hills, vineyards and olive groves), the tiny fishing port of Madrague-de-Gignac, the Carrey-le Rouet fishing port and much more. February celebrates the Month of the Sea Urchin and in August there is a flurry of activity: festivals, fireworks, fishing trips and competitions. It makes for an ideal holiday destination with its beaches, inlets, shops and numerous bars.
