Conocida popularmente como la "calle más bella de América", el Hillhouse Avenue Historic District es un sitio que se extiende sobre 18 acres de terreno. Cuenta con varias casas tradicionales que datan del siglo XIX, y con casas de algunas personas de reconocido prestigio. El sitio vale la pena una visita para ver las hermosas construcciones de élite de New Haven.
La Iglesia congregacional Unida de Cristo, como se le conoce de manera más formal, se ha destacado en New Haven Green desde 1639. La estructura georgiana actual data de 1812. El arquitecto, Ithiel Town, incorporó grandes ventanas en el diseño para dejar pasar la luz del sol, ya que no había sistema de calefacción. Una hermosa ventana Tiffany, instalada en 1890, representa al Rev. John Davenport llevando adelante el primer servicio en la nueva colonia. Pardee-Morris House—beautifully restored and preserved home near Lighthouse Point Park shows you what life was like for a prominent New Haven family in the 1700s. The home is maintained and run by the New Haven Colony Historical Society, and is open weekends June through August. After your tour of the museum, walk around the park to enjoy a panorama of Long Island Sound.
It is a historic windmill located on Bronson Road in Fairfield, Connecticut. It was built in the year 1894 for Frederic Bronson, from whom it derives its name. It is a tall structure made of Georgia pine and has stone exteriors. The architectural style featured by the windmill is Corcoran Storm Defying Windmill. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in the year 1971 and is also a part of the Greenfield Hill Historic District.
Home of the renown conservationist and businesswoman, Frances Osborne Kellogg, this grand Colonial Revival style mansion was built in 1840. Surrounding the majestic house are the formal gardens, awash in vibrant colors from spring through autumn when the flowers are in full bloom. Today, the Osborne Homestead is not only a popular house museum that showcases the life of its historic residents, but is also a member of the Connecticut Historic Gardens and the Connecticut Women's Heritage Trail. Guided tours of the house and gardens are organized for those who wish to delve into the life and work of the esteemed Frances Osborne Kellogg. Although the museum itself is open only from May through October, the groups are open year round from 9a to 4p Monday through Saturday, and from 12p to 4p on Sundays as well from May through October.
Maintained and managed by the Amity & Woodbridge Historical Society, the Darling House Museum dates back to the 1770s. This house belonged to Thomas Darling, a prominent citizen of Connecticut. Currently, this house museum opens its doors on special occasions only, but you can also avail group tours with prior appointment.
The Falkner Island Lighthouse was constructed in 1802. The lighthouse flashes a light every 10 seconds post its automation in 1978. It is a striking 40-foot (12-meter) octagonal tower built with sliced sandstone and set in lime mortar. It was a great relief to ship traffic in the tiny Sound Island in the 18th Century. Located approximately 3.5 miles (5.6 kilometers) offshore Guilford, the lighthouse towers about 46 feet (14 meters) above ground level and 94 feet (29 meters) above sea level.
