The hotel's location makes it an ideal dwelling place for those who want to be able to enjoy Reykjavík on foot. It is close to the city centre and extremely strategic if one wants to go shopping on Reykjavík's main shopping street. The house itself is a beautiful old three storey building with great charm. The lobby and the bar are not spacious, but they are homely, and the service is personal and friendly in this family-run establishment. The rooms are pleasantly decorated, without being luxurious.

It is strategically located just off Reykjavík's main bus terminal. The building is a rather dull one, at least on the outside, but clean, neat and tidy on the inside. The maximum number of guests being very small makes the service personal and friendly. Egilsborg's location and pricing make up for what may be missing as regards luxury and class. Egilsborg is open 15 May-30 Sep, being closed over the winter months.
