La Tour Blanche Hotel is located on the Gammarth coast, only 1.5 kilometers from the city of La Marsa. This 2-star hotel is a typical seaside resort with a beach, an outdoor swimming pool, a restaurant, a bar and a nightclub. The rooms are quiet and have private terraces with a view of the sea most of the time. N.L.
This 19th-century dwelling turned into a distinctive hotel is located in the very heart of the village, but far enough from the main road to be preserved from the summer tourist rush. It offers some stylish and well-kept rooms either facing the swimming-pool, the sea, or one of the four courtyards which are embellished with fountains, jasmine, and bougainvillea. The highly acclaimed restaurant Dar Zarrouk belongs to the hotel and is just 10 meters from it. The hotel staff speaks English.
This sumptuous boutique-hotel in the medina of Tunis will definitely delight those wishing to immerse themselves into the enchanted atmosphere of the old Arabic town. It is close to the Kasbah and the mosque Hamouda Pacha and is at the beginning of a great walk through the medina. Two renowned restaurants, the Dar El Jeld and the Dar Hammouda Pacha, are also nearby. The hotel's 12 distinctive rooms remain unchanged from the original architecture that was constructed more than a century ago. The rooms surround patios and all have different shapes and decoration which successfully mix contemporary design and bygone oriental luxury. The result is just wonderful. It's great having a tea or coffee from the terrace, while gazing at the medina. The welcome is hearty and personalized. -N.L.
The charm of this 10-suite boutique hotel that opened in 2004 not only relies on its amazing panoramic view of Tunis Bay but also on the modernist/minimalist design that defines its architecture, its furniture and its décor. It hangs on the edge of Colline de Byrsa (Byrsa Hill) and is next to the Musée National de Carthage; the suites' balconies overlook the panorama. The suites are very bright and spacious, and the bathrooms have been cleverly integrated into the bedroom space itself. The hotel spa is drawn from the tradition of the Tunisian Hammams. Finally, this hotel features a restaurant (Le Rest'ô) and a bar (Light Bar). N.L. Junior Suite TND370, Senior Suite & Salon TND650, Senior Suite & 2 Salons TND850.
The little four-star hotel Plaza Corniche is nested under tall palm-trees in the quiet and residential neighborhood of La Marsa Corniche. The place is invigorating; it comes with blossoming plant beds, a pretty swimming pool, and a terrace with a view of the closed Mediterranean Sea (near popular beaches). It is also charming at night when the outdoor space is lighted by an abundance of quaint lanterns and lights of all kind- in shapes such as cacti and palm-trees. The rooms have either a view of the sea or the garden and sometimes feature a balcony. They are decorated in an eclectic style inspired by French taste. This hotel should be avoided in the summer by those who wish to feel secluded. However, it will suit those in search of a festal atmosphere- its nightclub, bar, and restaurant with terrace and garden seating satisfies social butterflies. The staff speaks English. -N.L.
The Golden Tulip Carthage Tunis Hotel opened in 2000 and benefits from its geographic location, on the seacoast of Gammarth. This is a spacious and calm hotel and each room has a private balcony. Ancient Greece inspired the decorative setting, as evidenced by the aligned columns in the outdoor swimming pool area. The sporting and leisure facilities are good, and there is an 8-lane bowling alley. The Carthage Executive Floor is devoted to business travelers. Among the restaurants of the hotel, the Italian one is the best. Even though it is not the best hotel of its category, the Golden Tulip possesses some notable assets. N.L.
The flat building of the Mercure El Mechtel Hotel dates from the 1970s. It is located 3 kilometers away from the medina, south of the Parc du Belvédère. The rooms are comfortable but without much appeal, contrary to the bathrooms, which are quite pretty. The building also offers five restaurants and three bars. The swimming pool area is in a cute little garden. There is also a nightclub nearby. N.L.
Les Ambassadeurs Hotel stands right in front of the Parc du Belvédère, a great location for those wishing to escape the downtown without straying too far. There are some great views of the park from some of the rooms and from the terrace. The rooms have wooden furniture and are spotless and comfortable. The suites have kitchenettes, mini-bars and free Internet access. This perfectly well-kept hotel mainly caters to business travelers but can perfectly satisfy tourists. N.L.
This four-star hotel is located relatively near to the Parc du Belvédère, so it is slightly out of the center of town. The eight-storey building's décor and amenities are average, but the rooms are uncluttered and calm. N.L.

This 3-star hotel stands in the famous Avenue Bourguiba- the heart of Tunis. It is hard to find a better central location! This hotel was constructed in the twenties and renovated in 1994; it has a bright Art-Deco façade. The rooms and bathrooms are well-kept and comfortable but lack style. The façade-side rooms are isolated by double glazed windows and feature nice balconies. The coffee terrace in the bottom of the building offers a view of the lively Bourguiba avenue. The staff speaks English. In short, it's a very good hotel for its category and a good value for the money.
