Located off State Route 94, Mountain Creek is one of the closest ski resorts near New York City, just 47 miles (76 km) away from the city. Noted for its winter sports attractions, the place offers some of the best ski trails suitable for all ages, from beginner to the more difficult intermediate and expert levels. With 167 acres (675,825 square meters) of skiable areas and great terrain parks, this winter destination is also home to the highest vertical in the region. Apart from snowboarding and night time skiing, there's also a park for snow tubing, zip-lines, and a water park that is open during the spring.
Tucked away in the woodlands of New Jersey is the house of an eccentric artist called the Luna Parc. The colorful house brims with beautiful mosaic art, while the interiors are adorned with religious idols, taxidermy, stringed instruments, handmade lamps and stained glass. It is still a work in progress considering Ricky Boscarino wants to keep on beautifying his abode. It is only open to the public during the spring and fall open houses.
Built in 1819, the Old Monroe School House is one of the oldest standing buildings in Sussex County. The building was handcrafted with stone, giving it a rustic yet vintage look and feel. The school was built when the population of the area took a steep upward curve, offering primary education to local children until 1926, after which it was used as a storage room for road tools and equipment. The building is currently under the ownership of Hardyston Heritage Society which uses it as an educational museum.
The Skylands Stadium is a baseball arena that was established in the year 1994 and owned by Al Dorso. It was constructed with a natural grass surface which makes it easier for players to run and skid. Over the years it has been the home ground to a number of teams like Sussex Skyhawks, Newark Bears, New Jersey Cardinals and many more.
