Cervejaria Luz Mar

The Cervejaria Luz Mar is located right in the center of Cascais. The specialties of this restaurant are the tasty fresh fish and shellfish, with dishes such as shellfish rice, shrimp curry amongst others. Regarding the wine list, it is essentially filled with Portuguese wines. It is a spacious restaurant where the predominant color is red.

Time Out Market

The Time Out Market is located in the center of the city and is a foodies paradise. The highlight of the market is the massive food court with stalls run by award winning chefs that combine cuisines from around the world to bring a diversity of tastes that can be found nowhere else. There are a few bars and cafes too that serve refreshing drinks and coffee. Plenty of chairs and tables ensure that everyone can enjoy a meal comfortably and the prices are more than reasonable. 1300 Taberna

Portuguese food with an exquisite twist is a truthful description of the 1300 Taberna situated at the LX Factory, in Alcântara. The restaurant has an impressive décor, tall and overwhelming headroom and a superb menu. Also to consider is the great wine selection, with a considerable number of Portuguese wines to choose from. It is a perfect choice to go to any time of the day.

A Travessa

What began as a modest eatery serving home-style local cuisine in the Madragoa district transformed into a beautiful restaurant serving both local and international meals in a new location. The current restaurant is set in a beautiful seventeenth century convent, replete with a cobble-stoned courtyard and roaring fireplaces. The menu features some of the finest meat sourced from North Portugal, prepared with a Portuguese-Belgian influence. The indoor dining area is rustic yet refined, with arched windows looking out into the sun-drenched courtyard. During the warmer months, guests can experience the joy of dining under the stars in the cool air of the outdoor patio.

Pharmacia

Pharmacia in Portuguese literally means "Drug Store" in Portuguese, and it truly holds onto its name, since it is located at the building of the Portuguese National Drug Store Association. Though the fare is Portuguese cuisine there is no menu in place. It serves daily specials and everyday diners get to taste various flavors of Portuguese dishes. The place also has a bar, serving all kinds of drinks and light snacks. One of its fine features is the outside esplanade, perfect to enjoy during the summer evenings, or the late autumn afternoons.

Cafe a Brasileira

The Café a Brasileira was the famous haunt for artists such Eça de Queiroz and Fernando Pessõa, two heavyweights in Portuguese literature. Pessõa is also famous for drinking plenty of absinthe in this historical place located in the trendy yet traditional neighborhood of Chiado. This bar used to be the center for importing goods from Brazil when it first opened in 1905 and throughout the 1920s. It was the location to plant the seeds of revolution amongst several groups in Europe at the time. So walk up to the bar, order some bica (strong Portuguese coffee) and maybe you will hear the murmur of dissidents plotting against the government.
