The Sweetbriar Nature Center's mission is to provide Long Island residents with natural science education services and programs to further the preservation of local wildlife and ecosystems. Visitors can explore their local habitats and plant communities through the center while exploring the 54 acres that Sweetbriar is located on. The Center is a non-profit organization but donations are encouraged.
Opened for the general public on September 16, 2007, the Fairfield Museum and Historic Center is a monumental museum and library dedicated to the history of Fairfield, Connecticut. The museum boosts of a terrific collection of clocks, costumes and textiles, military items, dolls and toys, artistic furniture, and architectural fragments. Through the wide array of exhibitions, the museum offers tourists a glimpse of the state's colonial roots. A major highlight is the Landscape of Change exhibition, which reflects on Fairfield’s heritage.
Housed inside the U.S. Baird Building, the Two Roads Brewing Company is is known for its year-round beer line-up that includes Ol' Factory Pils, Unorthodox Russian Imperial Stout and the Honeyspot Road White IPA, among several others. The brewery conducts weekend tours for interested parties on a first-come, first-serve basis. For those who are more eager to sample the brewed goods can do so in their bustling tasting room, open Tuesdays through Sundays. There is also a beer garden where you can gulp down your favorite beer. If you're feeling peckish, bring your own food, or perhaps one of the local food trucks can help you out.
Stamford Museum & Nature Center is a one-stop destination for all educational and fun activities. Sprawled over 118 acres (47.75 hectares), it is home to the large Hecksher Farm and the Tudor-style Bendel Mansion that houses an interactive center and museum. It also boasts a planetarium for astronomical shows and a four-level observatory equipped with a 22-inch (56-centimeter) telescope. Every exhibit within the museum is tailored towards kids and features interactive artifacts to teach them about animal life, culture, history, science and fine art. The myriad trails take you through glacial erratic rocks, ephemeral pools, woods, pastures and farmlands with alpacas, pigs, chicken and llamas. The highlights are the Edith and Robert Graham Otter Pond and the playground where kids befriend a variety of animals. This center organizes events like maple sugar and harvest festivals, farmers' markets, astronomy projects, wildlife camps, antique car shows and wine tastings.
This renowned medical library is located inside a medical school building of Yale University. The library was established with the intent to develop, provide services and resources for the study in medical sciences and health related subjects. The library is well stocked with digital and print media collections related to medical science. Rare books and research documents are also available, along with good support from the knowledgeable staff that supports the needs of educationist, clinicians and scientist. The library is spread over a large area, and has a Historical Reading room, a Morse Periodical room, a Cushing room and an Information room with an excellent infrastructure, which includes free Wi-Fi. One can explore the library and find a study space to suit ones needs and taste. The medical library is open to all public, visitors and tourist can avail for a day’s pass, which is available at the guard station.
