Built in honor of the first African-American major league baseball player, Jackie Robinson Park looks to inspire the youth of the community with the vision of the sporting legend. A small but charming park, this recreational area includes a cover of lush green lawns, a few trees and a park benches where visitors can come by for a peaceful break from their daily schedule. The park also features a stone statue of the legend himself, which serves as a reminder of the great man's legacy.
Chestnut Hill Park is a great place to brig your kids for some after-school fun and bonding with others from the neighborhood. Featuring sets of play equipment for toddlers as well as older kids, you can be sure your child will have an enjoyable time among children of his or her age group. The Stamford Art Association is an art gallery that aims to provide a forum for budding artists through its exhibitions and workshops. Several members of this gallery include prominent painters, sculptors and artists who hand out much needed lectures about artistic culture and the evolution of art. Through various workshops for kids, the association also looks to encourage young artistic talent and even exhibits some of the innocent yet beautiful creations of these kids. It also hosts various competitions for the neighborhood kids wherein they are encouraged to used vivid colors to bring their imagination to life.
The Pop Music Academy offers a host of basic, intermediate and advanced music lessons for budding pop musicians. While there are plenty of alternatives for those who wish to learn dance and classical music, the Pop Music Academy is one of the rare few that prepare you to enter the world of professional pop music. From basic lessons for children and beginners, to advance artist development services, this music school is home to a diverse range of programs. Led by talented musicians and well-trained teachers, the students of the Pop Music Academy experience traditional classroom learning in addition to practical experiences like music video recordings, studio recordings, and live performances before an adoring audience and industry experts at the annual Showcase. Audition Prep, Songwriting Coaching and Music Production Lessons are also offered. The academy's studios and performance spaces may be hired for private events, parties, rehearsals and performances.
