Greyfield Inn

This is a former grand mansion built in 1900 for the daughter of Thomas and Lucy Carnegie of New York who retreated to Cumberland during the winter seasons. The experience is a step back in time to the Gilded Age. Although the street address may be in Florida, the inn is located on Cumberland Island, Georgia, accessible by the inn's ferry boat at Fernandina Beach. Guests can choose to stay at the three-story main house (where some rooms share a bath) or one of two cottages, each with a patio or porch. The rates are all inclusive with a full breakfast, in-house lunch or take out picnic, three-course dinner and snacks during the day. Full bar and wine service is available. Activities include 7a bird watching, Barrier Island jeep tours with a naturalist, exploring the Greyfield Gardens, visit Dungeness Ruins or take a stroll along the wide beaches to collect incredible seashells. -Natasha Lawrence
