Tinderbox Kitchen

When describing Tinderbox Kitchen, organic, local and sustainable are words often used. In fact, the tasting menus just use the ingredient itself as the centerpiece. For example, the charcuterie board may have different cheeses, but the accompaniments like the apples, crostini, simple greens and dressing could all stand strong by themselves. Entrees include scallops, steaks, duck and venison as well as what is in season. Each plate is prepared with the utmost care and if you can't make a choice on how to combine the myriad options, let the chef figure it all out.

Satchmo's

If you come to town looking for gumbo and crayfish, then head over to Satchmo's for that inimitable Louisiana flavor. At Satchmo's you can find all the favorites from the Pelican State, from jambalaya to po' boys. Whether it be red beans and rice, catfish and slow-smoked ribs, all of the traditional Louisiana dishes are served here. The prices are amazing and its a great place to bring the whole family or a large group.

Josephine's Modern American Bistro

Experience intimate dining featuring traditional American cuisine at Josphine's Modern American Bistro tucked in the heart of the historic district. Housed in a converted bungalow that has been placed on the National Historic Register, the restaurant presents an idyllic venue for romantic dinners, casual lunches and special occasions. The wood-paneled interiors still retain many rustic elements, from vintage furnishing to the fireplace, the ambiance harkens back to yesteryear. The menu is an illustration of Chef Tony Cosentino's exquisite creations rooted to local flavors and highlighting fresh ingredients. Favorite menu items include the green chili tamale gnocchi, diablo shrimp macaroni and cheese, and Josephine’s pot pie. An award-winning wine list accompanies the menu selections, which adds a final touch to the whole dining experience.

Beaver Street Brewery and Whistle Stop Cafe

Wash down your burger, sandwich or wood-fired pizza with a handcrafted beer from this award-winning Flagstaff brewery. You can even watch the chefs prepare your meal and the brewmeisters brewing the ales, porters, and lagers. During the summer, dine on the patio with items served from The Whistle Stop Cafe. This Arizona Republic consistently gives it reviews as both the "Best Restaurant" and "Best Bar" in Flagstaff. As an added benefit, the pool tables provide one more reason to visit Beaver Street Brewery.

Rene at Tlaquepaque

Within the picturesque Tlaquepaque Village, this upscale eatery is perfect for celebrating special occasions and impressing visitors. The elegant cuisine is prepared under the direction of Executive Chef Walter Paulson and is served with the utmost attention to detail. The signature dish is the Colorado Rack of Lamb ala René for two, carved tableside. An exceptional wine list offers quite a few selections in the USD25-40 per bottle range. Note that personal checks are not accepted.

Cowboy Club

Have you ever savored rattlesnake or buffalo? You can here. "High Desert cuisine" is offered at this upscale cowboy cafe. Buffalo and beef are as big on the menu here as burgers in chili. There are a variety of steak cuts to savour. Try the BBQ Snake Brochette or a basket of Sweet Potato Fries to start. The "Cowboy Cocktails" are truly a taste of the West and are named accordingly—Cow Tippin' Tonic, Pink Lizard and Arizona Sunset.
