Florence

The city of Florence lies along the banks of the Tennessee River in the northwestern part of the state of Alabama. Incorporated as a city in 1826, Florence is the county seat of Lauderdale County, and the largest city of the Metropolitan Statistical Area, known as ‘The Shoals’. Culturally rich and steeped in history, the city has earned the nickname, ‘Alabama’s Renaissance City’, and is the host of several prominent events, like the W.C. Handy Music Festival, the Renaissance Faire, Arts Alive, and the Alabama Renaissance Fair. Popular points of interest here include Kennedy Douglass Center for the Arts, Pope's Tavern Museum, and the Rosenbaum House.
