In the pedestrian area behind the Uffizi Gallery, this small wine bar is the ideal spot for a snack with a glass of wine, an inexpensive lunch or an aperitif. It serves a huge range of crostini, sandwiches, a selection of cheeses (especially fresh and matured Pecorino), cold cuts and also roasted pig directly from the rotisserie across the street run by the same owner. All'Antico Vinaio has only a few seats inside so there is always a mixed crowd of tourists and locals eating standing up on the street in front of it. All credits cards accepted...if you pay the bill at the rotisserie across the street.
Silvana Vivoli inherited the family business from her grandfather, Raffaello, who opened up shop on this narrow street in 1930. Every day, with her brother-in-law and two kitchen aides, she makes from scratch the creamy gelato for which her small store is famous. Though the most popular flavors are chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry, the rich chocolate hazelnut (nocciola) and the rice (riso) flavors are worth at least a taste. Silvana recommends combining at least two to four flavors in a single cup, which you can devour while people watching from the steps nearby Santa Croce.
This is a cheap pizza hot spot for students, travelers and locals alike. The Neapolitan guys behind the counter know how to make a true Italian pizza. There are only a few choices on the menu, but when the ingredients are this fresh you don't need more than a few choices. The pizza men know how to have a good time and get their guests excited about dinner, too! The tiny room is set with four or five small barrels made into tables with glass tops. It's tradition for customers to write a message on their order ticket and stick it under the glass as a memento of their visit.

The only Mexican restaurant in Florence, this place is always packed to the rafters. A second location has opened up further from the center of town, but is still easily accessible on foot or via the tram-line. Tijuana may be the only bar in Florence which honors the favored tradition of happy hour, however, you can only enjoy the discounted drinks for an hour. Fun flavored margaritas and a variety of Mexican plates to choose from makes this a great place to stop by for a drink and snacks, or for a full course meal. The Via Ghibellina location gets full quickly every night, so it is recommended to make a reservation.
This excellent, traditional gelateria can be found behind the Piazza della Signoria where ice cream flavored with fruits which are in season can be enjoyed and semifreddi. The flavors are always changing and there is a lot of originality, including yogurt and soy gelato.

Inventive flavors, generous scoops and friendly service are the factors that define Gelateria Santa Trinita. This lovely gelateria is located overlooking the scenic waters of the River Arno and is responsible for delighting children and adults alike. The rainbow of flavors that are kept on display here will spoil you with choices. When faced with such a dilemma the best thing to do is; buy their multi-flavored cone. But your sweet tooth won't be satiated by just one, so buy two or three because at their prices you cannot settle for just one!
It's said that it is impossible to get a bad pizza in Florence; people who've visited I'Pizzacchiere, on Via San Miniato, would agree. The Oltrarno establishment is exceedingly popular for the great variations in pizzas it offers. Fresh, local ingredients and tried-and-tested recipes produce superb pizza pies that fill up this place with aromas that even the Devil wont be able to resist! Apart from some simply awesome pizzas, they also offer staples such as hot dogs and lasagnas; while the drink list features local brews and wines, and German beers. The most popular dishes include, pappa al Pomodoro, the highly recommended White Tiger and Veggie lasagna. Everything on the menu is quite nice, to say the least.
