Spread over a modest area of 1 acre (0.40 hectare), it has a mix of Italian Baroque and Renaissance styles of architecture. Although no longer an active congregation, it became a part of the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

It is named after the legendary musician, Léo Poulin, whose commitment to music and encouragement of other artists led to Edmundston being recognized as one of the primary hubs for music in the country. The auditorium was established in 1978 and has undergone a complete renovation in 2014 and continues to host shows of musicians and comedians from all across the world.
