"Since 1897"
The Mercado dos Pinhões was first constructed as the meat market in 1897 and its iron structure was designed by the same firm that created the Eiffel Tower. In 1938 after years of decay and disuse, the market was dismantled and moved to other parts of the city, however Fortaleza benefactors reconstructed it in 1998. As it stands today, many modifications have been made, but it has been reconverted to host shows, expos and live music on most weekends.
